There are some attempts at comedy that wither and die like unpicked grapes in winter. He ends up deep in Camp Valley, hacking away at the clumsy narrative with a machete, staging a couple of brief action sequences at night, in the blueish hue of the moon, to mask any crummy special effects. Director Bill Condon struggles to cohere the script's tonal mishmash, veering from soppy melodrama to hallucinogenic insanity (especially during the final act, when the baby done due). The dialogue sounds as if it was written by a non-native English speaker who learned the language by reading greeting cards.
Although Jake's angry, he betrays his furry brethren to protect Bella, forming an uneasy truce with the Cullen family. Perhaps you recall from previous chapters that Jacob was the third leg of the love triangle. He's played by Taylor Lautner, Grand Rapids boy, stumbling clumsily through the script with the rest of the cast. "Dawn 1" continues the series' modus operandi, namely, erroneously believing the sexual tension between she and Edward isn't a dessicated thing, undead and shambling under the power of postmortem muscle memory. The film opens with the glum, tear-soaked wedding, where everyone is smiling except angsty ol' Bella, gorgeous in her gown, but still a clumsy awkward teen. Dividing it into two means we are able to fully contemplate the numerous instances of existential nothingness occurring here, while a lone oboe moans on the soundtrack. The film is so intently padded, it boggles the mind that justice could not be done to Stephenie Meyer's bestselling novel in just one film. What that long, punctuation-heavy title could really use is some dots of ellipsis, to accurately represent what happens on screen: Line of dialogue.
Played respectively by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson with the low wattage we've come to expect from this series, Bella the Human and Edward the Vampire do the deed early in the movie, then spend the remainder of the two hours suffering and moping and sulking in the kind of miserably long, drawn-out tedium usually experienced during continental drift or television golf matches. Although the central romantic pair of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1" held off consummation until after they were married, they are punished severely for it.
